Sheena Douglass workshop

I was at a workshop run by Sheena Douglass last weekend (I've put a link to her blog on my sidebar) and I've been asked to blog about it, so here goes. It was a great day, about 25-30 people were there, and we made 4 projects:

These 2 were made using distress inks, and water, and then the trees were stamped with archival black ink. The one on the left is on the front of a notebook - one of those shopping list ones. Great gift idea!
The one on the right is a card. and the swirl was embossed with silver embossing
powder. The moon and snow flakes were made with water. I can demonstrate how to do this, so if you'd like to learn, just get a few friends together and book a PartiCraft party with me. Those distress inks are great to work with, can't wait to get my hands on some more...

These 2 images were made using heat-proof acetate, pigments, tissue and floor polish! I did the castle one first and the pigments mixed up too much, I think the second one, the stag, turned out much better. I've not mounted it onto a card yet.

This is the fourth project - we put floor polish and pigments into a glass bauble, the different colours came out well, and every one had a different look. The photo doesn't do it justice!

I'd love to read your comments,
Teri x

Burgundy and some other colours!

I have now given up on my laptop, and am trying to get things set up on our aging PC. So, I've not blogged for a fortnight! I have made a few cards and gift boxes, and finally finished decorating a mirror I got from Ikea several months ago. I am attempting to upload some pics of these now...
Ok, here's a pic of the finished gift box including the medallion topper, that was one of the projects we did at the workshops I ran in november. We used black card, and embossed with Golden Red embossing powder. On the left is abox I made and decorated with the flowers I made using my Eazi-score board, mentioned in an earlier post.

I have made a few cards for birthdays, Christmas and one sympathy card. I have used burgundy in most of these cards - hence the blog title! The Cat in the Hat card looks a little odd - it was photographed on my green craft mat - the card isn't green! All the other cards were made using stamps from PartiCraft, and a variety of techniques - heat embossing, stamping on acetate, glitter on acetate, cosmic shimmer watercolours and adirondack pens. If you want more details - just ask!

And finally...here is the altered mirror: One of my daughter's friends is going to get it as a birthday present, so I hope she likes it!
The mirror itself is from Ikea, and I was inspired by another PartiCraft demonstrator to have a go...click here to see their mirrors.
I used scrapbook paper to decorate the lower part of the mirror, after painting it with a Radiant rain paint dabber (mallard green). Then made some flowers using my Eazi-score board to decorate the top left hand corner. I'd love to know what you think!
Ok I think that is plenty for now...more soon.

Christmas Fair and a workshop

On Friday I ran my last workshop for this year, we made some Christmas cards this week, using stamps and embossing powder.
Then on Saturday we had a Christmas Fair at my church. I had made some gift boxes using my Eazi-Score board, decorated with stamped holly leaves and Christmassy ribbons, and sold most of them :-)
I took a pic, but my laptop isn't working just now so I can't upload it - hopefully I'll get some pics on the next post.

So, no more workshops till after Christmas - the new dates are on my sidebar - contact me for more info.
